For most fluorescence applications we would recommend the use of a xenon arc lamp, as it gives a relatively bright and flat response across the spectrum. If ultraviolet light (e.g. for fura or indo) is not required, then it is sometimes possible to use a halogen light source as an alternative. Our halogen light source comprises of a variable DC power supply, a heat sink lamp housing complete with 100 Watt halogen lamp with built in dichroic reflector. The output port is designed for coupling to our liquid light guide or interfacing with our rotary filter changer. Spare lamps are freely and cheaply available.
