P600/BE4/000 - Optopatch Amplifier System Box.
As well as using our proprietary optical current-passing system, the Optopatch also acts as TRUE high-impedance voltage follower amplifier in current clamp mode (unlike other patch clamps). In addition, it incorporates a lock-in amplifier for precision membrane capacitance measurement. The lock-in amplifier can be used in a unique "track-in" mode, in which it automatically adjusts the Optopatch's resistance and capacitance controls to follow any changes in these parameters. This mode provides linear and calibrated output voltages to report these changes, which makes recording and interpretation of membrane capacitance data much more straightforward, as well as reducing the risk of crosstalk caused by simultaneous resistance changes.
