These are supplied in microscope specific mounting blocks. The installation procedure will be detailed in your microscope manual. Before installation the block should be inspected to check if excitation or emission filters are fitted. For all but the simplest applications we usually advise that these filters are positioned elsewhere in the lightpath to allow the possibility of ratiometric excitation and emission measurements and to allow more light through to the observation CCD camera, if fitted.
The dichroic mirrors are manufactured specifically for fluorescence dye experiments and the dichroic cut-off wavelength is selected for use with a particular dye or group of dyes.
