Discriminator Headstage

The discriminator headstage is normally supplied with a dead time (minimum interval between recognised counts) of 200nsec, but a 100nsec version can also be supplied if required. The headstage is connected directly to the photomultiplier output socket, and it obtains its power supply from the cable connection to the photon counting module. When the photon counting module is switched off, the removal of the power supply voltage automatically switches off the headstage. This allows the photomultiplier to be connected directly to an input amplifier which is connected to the analogue output of the photon counting module.
