Before fitting the rotary filter changer into the light path between the light source and the microscope or cuvette, it is advisable to test it's operation independently as follows:
- Connect the rotor to the system electronics box via the 12-way cable provided.
- With the STOP and EXTERNAL buttons in the raised (off) position and the SPEED set to 032 x1; switch on the system box.
- The rotor should synchronise at 32 Hz within a few seconds indicated by the illumination of the green SYNC light. Depress the frequency range switch to x0.1, and verify that the system sychronises at 3.2Hz. Check the spinning operation at other speeds, upto about 140Hz.
- Depress the STOP button. The rotor should move to filter position 1 with the SYNC light coming on once the wheel is stationary in this position. Check that the rotor steps smoothly and rapidly to all filter positions from all other filterpositions.
- Switch the system back to spinning mode with the frequency set as required (we recommend either 32Hz or 64Hz for most photometric measurements and integer multiples or divisions of mains frequency should be avoided).
- The system box can now be switched off and the filter changer inserted into the optical adapter ready for use.
