Cairn understands well that the easiest way to design products that sell themselves is to listen to our customers, the only people who know what they really need (usually). As a result of this we always welcome new ideas for instruments that are currently unavailable from mainstream suppliers. Many of our standard products originated from customer requests for new components, and the development of new and innovative products is one of Cairn's mainstays. Our view is that to charge the first customer large development costs for sharing their good ideas would be dishonest, and contrary to conventional wisdom does not always make sound business sense. We rely on our ability to produce high quality competitively priced products that sell well, thus recouping development costs from profits when custom components become 'off the shelf' products.
Cairn has an efficient and well equipped mechanical workshop as well as an accomplished electronics, mechanics and optics design team; all of which are applied to developing and prototyping new products.
