Fast fluorescence imaging systems from Cairn

The hardware available for fluorescence imaging changes at a bewildering rate. It seems that every month faster, more sensitive cameras are brought to the market; more powerful software is released or more flexible hardware is designed. Each development has advantages for particular applications, but it can often be difficult to decide whether those advantages are good value for your research.

At Cairn we have many years experience in fast fluorescence detection in biological samples, and so our aim is to provide a choice of fast imaging systems to take advantage of both traditional and state of the art fluorescence techniques in the biomedical sciences. These range from ratiometric imaging and fluorescence in-situ hybridisation (FISH), to total internal reflectance fluorescence (TIRF) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) studies. More information on these techniques can be found in the technical section of the site, with further details to be added soon.

Our imaging systems are usually assembled around a fluorescence microscope using our Optoscan monochromator for fast excitation wavelength selection, together with theOptospin filter wheel and a research grade integrating CCD camera or photodiode array for signal detection. We can provide anything from a single filter component to a complete automated system for a multi-user facility, so if you are looking to move to fluorescence imaging then contact us on tech@cairnweb.com and we will help find the best system for your requirements.

If you are new to fluorescence imaging and the underlying technology, please refer to our imaging overview pages in the technical section for a more detailed look at the decisions to be made when defining parameters for your system.
