Variable frequency generator
The Optopatch includes a variable frequency generator that can provide either square or sine wave outputs. The square pulses are useful for monitoring changes in the electrode resistance during patch creation, whilst the sine waves are required for the lock-in amplifier. The frequency of the pulse train can be continuously varied from 0.1 to 100 KHz by use of a variable rotary dial and range selector. Similarly the signal amplitude can be varied continuously up to 10V.
