Separate controls for holding voltage and current
Sometimes it may be desirable to switch from voltage clamp to current clamp (or vice versa) while maintaining the cell at some specified potential. This means changing from one value of command potential to another value of command current, at the same instant that the system is switched from voltage clamp to current clamp. To enable this facility we have included an additional front panel control to set the holding current of the recording pipette, as well as the traditional control for setting the holding voltage. Only one of these controls is active at any time, but when you switch between voltage and current clamp, the appropriate control is read.
